Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins is a Mexican American sportscaster. She currently works for ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and occasionally host SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in 2016. Her mother is journalists on TV Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual from her age of nine. Her skill was instrumental in securing her first role as an assistant to the production team at Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she collaborated with producers of the shows Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. In the following years it was announced that her CBS subsidiary of St. Petersburg employed her as a sport reporter. She moved from St. Petersburg to Rio Grande Valley in 2009 to work as a reporter on the Spanish stations KNVO TV 48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. She covered stories about the issue of immigration and trafficking drugs across both Texas as well as Mexico. Also, she was often requested to fill in as a sports and weather anchor. She then anchored and reported at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was given more responsibilities. The pieces she produced were on MLB's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason as well as the Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was host of the local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She worked as anchoring the sports section of Despierta America Deportes morning show. In addition, she served as an anchor on sports for Primer Impacto, a magazine program that airs on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins' parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. The girl was born on November 22nd the 22nd of November, 1985 in Mexico City. Her sister is also there. In 1992 the family left Mexico to go to the US and relocated to Miami. Their divorce was soon followed and her mother married with a naval architect called Fabio Fajardo who died of kidney cancer in 2006. Her residence was with her family in Canton Ohio with her older sister during the summer, where she had been offered the chance to get a job. Still a senior at high school, but having a clear vision of what she wanted to do in her future, Antonietta went to the University of Mount Union to determine if the school was suitable for her goals. In the end, she was a fan of the university and they had the program she was looking for. She completed her schooling and received a scholarship to the University to pursue a degree in Media studies. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her professor Mark Bergmann who was the managing director at WRMU 91.1 FM, a station of which she was a member. His passion for journalism and her self-confidence prompted her. She in turn, tried to meet the requirements of his boss and not disappoint him.
